The Workshop Space / Seminar Room Requirements
Ideally we require the venue to be located in a natural setting, away from noise and pollution. It is possible to work is less pristine environments, but requires more energy to establish and maintain the necessary atmosphere.
The space must be sufficiently large for anticipated numbers, well lit with natural light, and be open and clean. There must be the possibility of natural ventilation, opening windows / doors with access to an outside space.
Ideally, the finishes and materials used in the space should be natural and non-toxic. A timber floor is ideal. We need a very good quality sound system, ideally within the room itself, but a portable high quality unit is acceptable. We will need a white board, which can double as a projector screen.
Much of the seminar is a combination of movement and geometry construction, so the ability and space to push the chairs back easily to create the necessary open floor area is required. The chairs themselves are to be simple but comfortable stacking style seminar seating, and are normally arranged in a circle, ellipse or ovoid. The provision of meditation style cushions is also recommended.
We require at least one bouquet of flowers, but more are always preferable. Roses are the best choice.
We will need a low table to set up as a small altar. We also require an incense holder and ideally a large eagle or other feather for blowing the incense and clearing the space.
We will need at least 34 small tea candles, preferably in nice glass containers - and some spare ones to replace them if they are used up. So 50 minimum would be perfect, but more is better. A single large beautiful candle is also required.
We will need 40 lengths of thin bamboo or other clean wooden sticks. The can be anything from 3 to 5 feet in length, but must be all exactly the same length.Larger is better in terms of the geometry, but we need to allow for the room size. We will also need five packets of small timber barbeque skewers.
We also require a container of small river or sea stones. Crystals would be ideal.
Practically we require that the main seminar space have easy access to toilet facilities and a small kitchenette with associated tea / coffee dining areas. Herbal teas, fresh fruit juices and fruit and nuts also required.
If in any doubt please ask us. The above information is for your guidance, and we would be happy to discuss any variation or alternative that might present. It is necessary for the organiser to see and vet the space before committing to it.
